Join us in September, 2020

When you choose to join us on a trip to Medellin, you can expect to play a key role in helping to move the local ministry to these children forward. The encouragement and support that your presence will bring to the workers and the children is critically important. You will have an opportunity to use your skills and talents to support the local ministry, whether it be through teaching and sharing in a centre with the children, using business acumen or other skills to support local program growth, or sharing your faith with members of the community.

In order to transform a nation, we must reach the next generation of leaders. Hope Story and our partners in Medellin, Colombia are committed to doing just this. We believe that if we are able to provide for the most vulnerable children, those that have little access to supportive care and safety, and endow them with the knowledge and understanding that God loves them and has a plan for them, they will unlock the potential to grow into church and community leaders. In order to accomplish this important work, Hope Story has partnered with Tiempo de Paz, and church-run organization in Medellin, Colombia. Tiempo de Paz has established houses of refuge in the most impoverished areas of Medellin, to give at-risk kids a place to come to receive Christian teaching, supplemental education, and safety from gang culture and sexual abuse.

Medellin is an exquisitely beautiful city, which has been named the world’s most innovative city, as well as being awarded the 2016 World City Prize. The incredible effort that has been made to change the image of the city from that of one rife with violence and drugs has been amazing. But the work is not done. High poverty levels in many parts of the city, and the out-sized influence of the narco gangs mean that many children face the risk of violence, gang culture, and physical and sexual abuse. To combat these threats, Tiempo de Paz is committed to providing places of refuge for these children where they can come before and after school to escape the realities of their neighbourhoods. We need your help to help grow the reach of Tiempo de Paz.
