Tanzania Spring Update

Pastor Majama, and school administrator Sarah, from the Amani School in Tanzania, spoke to us about how the dedicated teachers at the Amani School have been creative in reaching out, even taking lessons right to the villages where the children live. And Majama tells us of the powerful witness of Christ that the kids have in their own homes, through both words and deeds.Another initiative that has continued during the pandemic has been Majama’s sports evangelism outreach with teens and young men - a great way to expand the Amani School’s ministry and witness beyond its walls to youth in the community. Then, there is the teaching farm (or garden) – a brand new initiative. The school has been blessed with 3 acres of land which they use to grow fruit and vegetables – such as spinach, bananas, and cassava – using conservation agriculture methodology. They not only teach the kids to grow their own food sustainably (even in dry soil conditions) but are also teaching their parents and the locals how to get more food from their own land with new techniques. Nearly all the kids come from farming families, and so this is a critical part of their education, and the kids are a bridge between their parents and the vital conservation agriculture information Amani can provide.Another dream that we expect will become a reality soon is the building of the high school – stay tuned for more updates on this project!
