Steady Strength: Cecil’s Story

Cecil* was very young when she lost her mother. She and her sibling were left in the care of their grandmother whose health was already fragile and whose means were limited.
Caring for two young children on her own, her grandmother struggled to meet even the most basic needs. Providing daily meals was often uncertain, and the cost of school fees, uniforms, and supplies was beyond what she could afford. At times, choices had to be made between putting food on the table and keeping the children in school.
Since birth, Cecil has also been living with HIV, requiring consistent medication, proper nutrition, and regular monitoring. These needs added to another layer of difficulty. Without stable income or access to consistent medical support, her grandmother could not manage the cost of treatment or ensure that Cecil had the nutrition needed to stay healthy.
Through Creation of Hope, Cecil began receiving the support she needed. She was enrolled in the program and now benefits from regular meals, medical care, and assistance with school fees and supplies. With these essentials in place, she is able to stay in school and manage her health with greater stability.
Today, Cecil is active in class and fully engaged in her learning. Despite ongoing health challenges, she approaches her studies with determination and is working toward her dream of becoming a teacher.
Cecil is also deeply involved in church, participating in liturgical dancing, reciting poems and Bible verses, and serving as a Sunday school teacher for younger children.
