Zwandi's Story of Resilience

Tragedy struck when their mother passed away, leaving Zawadi and her siblings in the care of their elderly grandparents. With no stable income, her grandparents struggled to provide for even their most basic needs.

She often went hungry, lacked proper clothing, and had no secure shelter. She could only attend school twice a week, as she was frequently sent home for unpaid school fees. At night, she slept in a room shared with goats. The neglect and uncertainty she faced after her mother’s death left her deeply traumatized.

In 2017, Zawadi was welcomed into Creation of Hope. She was able to attend school daily without the fear of being turned away.

Zawadi sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in 2023 and was admitted to secondary school. Now in Form One (Grade 9), she is excelling in her studies, recently achieving a high grade in her first year. Determined to become an optician, she is working diligently towards her dream.

Beyond academics, Zawadi is a hardworking and responsible young girl. She enjoys helping at her uncle’s home—babysitting, washing clothes, and keeping the compound clean. She never shies away from responsibility and is committed to whatever she sets her mind to.
